The Peaceful Paw was created out of love for a very special bulldog named Ike who passed away on February 6th 2014. He was 14 years old and a beloved rescue.
Lori Gammon-Megginson, owner and founder of The Peaceful Paw is a native of Charlotte, NC . During the last years of Ike's life, Lori began to incorporate a more holistic approach to Ike's care. It was at this point that Lori became aware of the chemicals and toxins that were in Ike's " top of the line" food and even his pet products. She researched many pet food companies and was surprised to see the many recalls on pet food. She was even more surprised to see so many chemicals in pet products that were supposedly " All- Natural"
The passing of Ike had a huge impact on Lori's life. After his death, she researched more alternative healthcare options for pets, which included animal aromatherapy, the use of essential oils and canine massage. Lori knew the best way to honor Ike was to share her knowledge with other pet parents and The Peaceful Paw was born. Lori decided that after more than 25 years working in the healthcare field as a pediatric nurse, it was time for a career change, a life change.
She became certified in Animal Aromatherapy through Ashi Holistic Center in Banner Elk, NC and trained at the Pet massage Training and Research Institute in Toledo, where she became certified as a Pet massage Practitioner. Lori also wanted to create a truly all-natural line of pet grooming products. Her training in Animal Aromatherapy led her to create the Peaceful Paw product line.
Peaceful Paw Products are a line of skin care products, made for Dogs. Our Products are handcrafted and made in small batches in Murrells Inlet, SC. We are vegan friendly, all-natural, vet approved and leaping bunny certified. We use dog safe, 100% plant based ingredients in all of our products. You will never find any harsh chemicals in our products. We use naturally occurring preservatives to keep our products fresh and safe. No parabens, fillers or formaldehyde releasers are used as preservatives in our products. We feel that if you can not pronounce a word or don't know what it is, it should not be in your skin care products, let alone your Dogs.
Lori's training and certification in Animal Aromatherapy assures she uses only 100% safe essential oils and herbs that are dog friendly. Her formulations have met strict guidelines for safety as outlined by the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy safe use Guidelines for Animals.
As a company, we do not not source any of our ingredients or packaging from China. Because The Peaceful Paw is a small, growing company, we must depend on others to help us find the very best overseas ingredients. We use Greenamerica.org certified companies for this purpose. Companies with this certification have the highest standards when it comes to the foreign productions of raw ingredients. This ensures the integrity of our overseas ingredients and their Fair Trade status. One of our favorite suppliers is Mountain Rose Herbs.

As a Certified Pet Massage Practitioner I am trained in the PetMassage ™ technique which aids in relaxation and initiates self healing of dogs through the use of knowledgeable, compassionate touch, compression, kneading and energy balancing. The PetMassage ™ practice enhances the body-mind awareness of the dog. PetMassage ™ does NOT include deep-tissue work or extremes of joint movement. As a Certified Pet Massage Practitioner, I can not diagnose or treat specific medical disorders. I do not prescribe medications nor give medical advice. Issues that I am not trained to address will be referred to your Veterinarian.

A Dog Handling Certification is a credential showing competence in safely managing and working with dogs, often required for roles in dog training, pet care, and animal shelters.
Animal Aroma Level 1 is a training in using aromatherapy for animals, introducing participants to essential oils and their applications for animal well-being.

Murphy LOVES massages from Lori. When she comes in, he greets her and then immediately flops down for his treatment. Her products are amazing. Murphy has tons of allergies, but the soothing spray, paw balm and shampoo work so well to calm his skin irritations. No itches! Yesterday he got into something sticky. I washed his feet with her shampoo and it cleaned him right up. Lori and The Peaceful Paw are the best.
